New residential subdivision proposed for Battleford

Sep 20, 2018 | 11:30 AM

The Town of Battleford may see some development in the near future if a new residential subdivision goes ahead.

At council’s recent meeting it was announced the new subdivision, called Battleford West Country Estates, is being proposed for the town.

Council gave first reading to approve the new subdivision, described as a large-lot acreage residential project.

A total of 33 acreages of varying sizes are planned for the subdivision.

“Anybody who is interested in having a little bit of acreage-life in the confines of a town or city, you can get the best of both worlds,” Mayor Ames Leslie said of the project following the meeting. “It will definitely bring a nice new section to the community as well.”

Leslie confirmed many of the lots in the project have already been claimed.

The new subdivision will be located to the west of Battleford West’s Telegraph Heights area.

The project proposal will return to council for second and third reading at a future date.

Leslie confirmed the town also will need to negotiate a service agreement with the developer for the project.

“Once that is determined he can probably break ground in the spring,” he added.
