The City of North Battleford is giving residents a send off to summer with a Drive-In Movie tomorrow night.

The fifth annual Send Off to Summer will be at the corner of Heritage Way and Carlton Trail, behind the Gold Eagle Casino. Visitors are asked to bring a lawn chair or a blanket if they’d like to watch the movie Incredibles 2 outside of their cars.

“It’s a great time for families to spend time together, and enjoy a free event. It feels like summers been over for a while here, but were going to officially send it off,” the city's Program Manager Candace Dustan said.

Kids are being asked to dress up as their favourite superhero, and with family entertainment running from 6 p.m. on, it will be an event for all ages. With bouncy castles, carnival games, a balloon man, and food vendors on site prior to the 8 p.m. screening, there’s something for everyone.

With the weather already turning, the city has a backup plan when it comes to the event, in the case that the weather does not hold up, Dustan said.

“Rain looks in the forecast. If it does rain, the events will be held in the field house,” she said. “The movie will still go outdoors.”

Innovation Credit Union is a main sponsor for the event, and will have volunteers helping out throughout the evening.
