Battlefords area residents with a love of bluegrass music will be in their element when the Claire Lynch Band hits the Dekker Centre stage later this month.

Currently based in Nashville, award-winning singer-songwriter Claire Lynch said people attending her concert can expect to hear a top-notch performance from a group of dedicated musicians.

“They will see excellent musicianship, and they’ll hear songs to hopefully entertain them and warm their hearts,” Lynch said. “I feel my job as a musician and as an entertainer, it’s a service. If people’s hearts are lightened by my being there, then I’ve done my job. “

She said anyone who loves “acoustic music and great singing” should come to the show.

Lynch previously played the Dekker Centre a few years ago so this will mark her second visit as part of her tour of western Canada.

The award-winning artist is also a multi Grammy nominee. Lynch said she also received a fellowship from United States Artists for her work.

‘I’m known as a bluegrass musician,” she said. “My music has been associated with the bluegrass music industry for decades now. I’ve always kind of pushed the boundaries, and kind of fused [the genre] a little bit with country and folk, of course with my own writing.”

Lynch said she is influenced by a wide range of artists, from Nanci Griffith, all the way to Ella Fitzgerald.

The southern star said she has an all-new Canadian band for this tour. She added she is planning to move to Canada soon after marrying a Canadian so she is excited to be touring the country.

Lynch said her new band features a champion fiddle player, as well as talented mandolin, upright-bass and acoustic guitar musicians. This will be their first time touring together.

“They are all very lauded musicians,” Lynch added.

The Claire Lynch Band will be performing Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. in North Battleford.
