UPDATE: Police arrest male suspect following Saulteaux F.N. shooting

UPDATE: Jonathan Swiftwolfe was arrested near a residence on the Mosquito First Nation. He remains in custody and is due to appear in court on Friday, at 9:30 a.m. according to an RCMP media release. Police have also confirmed that this incident orginally took place on the Moosomin First Nation. 

 

A 24-year-old man is wanted by the Battlefords RCMP after a shooting on the Saulteaux First Nation.

Jonathan Swiftwolfe is facing numerous firearm-related charges, according to an RCMP press release, after police and paramedics were dispatched to a home on the First Nation at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

A 24-year-old man was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his lower leg.

The man, who was conscious when found, was transported to Battlefords Union Hospital for immediate care and remains in stable condition in Saskatoon.

Police said Swiftwolfe is considered a risk to public safety and should not be approached.

He was last seen driving a dark-coloured, older-model Dodge Ram truck. He is described as 5’10”, 181 pounds with a medium build, and a tattoo on his right upper neck.
