Man sentenced to five years for Mosquito FN robbery
A man facing charges related to a robbery on the Mosquito First Nation earlier this year has been sentenced to further jail time.
A judge sentenced Marty Moccasin, 24, to five years in prison less time served, leaving him four more years, for a Jan. 6 robbery. He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 24.
Following a trial in May, Moccasin was found guilty on June 22 of a number of charges, including weapon-related offences, such as using a firearm in the robbery of a vehicle. He was acquitted of a remaining charge of possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
The Lloydminster man received a lifetime firearms ban, was ordered to forfeit a shotgun, ammunition, and a rifle, have no contact with the complainants and pay a total surcharge of $1,400.
