Man charged in high-risk arrest appears in court

A man facing charges related to a high-risk arrest on Aug. 25 in the Riverview area made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court earlier this week. 

Trent Angus, 29, has been charged with eight criminal code offences, including failure to secure a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm and resisting arrest. He appeared in court on Monday. 

Angus is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 6 for a bail hearing.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team was called to the Riverview area Aug. 25 to assist in executing an arrest warrant. Police say Angus was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating paroleRCMP reported the Battlefords Municipal GIS Unit and the Provincial Crime Reduction Team had been engaged in an investigation to locate Angus.
