N.B. council welcomes new city manager and leisure services director

The City of North Battleford council welcomed some new members to the city’s senior administration roles at its meeting Monday.

The new City Manager Randy Patrick and Leisure Services Director Cheryl DeNeire, who were selected for the positions, participated in council’s meeting.

Patrick said he is looking forward to the work ahead.

“I’m actually loving the community,” he said following council’s meeting. “I’m looking forward to the challenges here …. You can do good things in the community, and I’m looking forward to participating in this community.”

Patrick is also excited about the city’s growth and revitalization. He said he spent the first week touring various facilities after starting in his position earlier this month.

“I’m looking forward to working with council and working with residents,” he said.

Patrick replaces former City Manager Jim Puffalt who moved on in April.

Mayor Ryan Bater said he is pleased to see the new city manager and leisure services director now in place.

“It’s big for the city” he said. “The senior leadership team leads, directs and guides the various departments. The city manager is the highest public employee employed by the city. It’s the one employee who answers directly to council.”

The mayor added a special thank you to Bill Samborski who served as interim city manager following Puffalt’s departure.

Samborski was also the city’s former leisure services director. He officially retired after contributing about 25 years in his work with the city.

“He served the city very well, not only as director of leisure services, but in the last few months as our acting city manager,” Bater said. “He’ll be missed. We wish him the best.”
