Wilkie RCMP issue arrest warrant after two-part police chase

The Wilkie RCMP detachment has issued a warrant for a 38-year-old man’s arrest after he allegedly led them on a chase, assaulting an officer in the process.

RCMP said the incident started in the late afternoon of Aug. 13 when someone reported a suspicious vehicle on a rural property located along Highway 29 north of Wilkie. Officers located a green Ford F350, RCMP said, but the plates didn’t match the vehicle. When an officer approached the truck to arrest the driver, the driver allegedly put the vehicle into reverse and fled, running into bushes and a play structure before taking off through the bush into a field. The officer who approached the truck was uninjured, RCMP said, but they were unable to pursue further due to the rough terrain.

Police continued to patrol the area, and spotted a white Ford F350 driving erratically away from a separate rural property on a nearby grid road. The green F350 was found at this property, and officers began chasing the second truck. The white truck was later recovered, police said, but the driver wasn’t located.

Police have now issued a warrant for the arrest of 38-year-old Sean Reid Schille in connection with the two-part police chase. He’s charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, flight from police, motor vehicle theft, assault with a weapon, mischief, impaired driving, dangerous driving, marijuana possession, and possession of property obtained by crime.
