Sidewalk Sale to join Street Performer Festival

Jul 26, 2018 | 2:00 PM

The downtown businesses are collaborating with the Street Festival, and will be holding a sidewalk sale the next two days.

All the businesses taking part will be outside, helping customers and selling their products during the North Battleford International Street Performer Festival. Misty Lavertu, executive director at the North Battleford Business Improvement District, told battlefordsNOW the ideas behind holding the sidewalk sale, and how they want to get people out into the community.

“It’s going to get people downtown again; we want the traffic and the feet downtown,” she said. “We want people to come down and see all the work that’s being done and see the positive changes that are happening and how inviting it is and that it’s a positive place to be. The more we can get the community downtown, the better.”

There hasn’t been a sidewalk sale collaboratively in North Battleford’s downtown in quite a while, but the feedback has been all positive, Lavertu said.

“Years ago, it’s been a while, but we have lots of positive feedback from the businesses, everyone’s excited,” she said. “There’s a buzz going on downtown right now and we want to continue that, and invite everybody to come out and be a part of that.”

In all these businesses taking part, the Business Improvement District wants people to come out and enjoy not only the festivities, but show off what the downtown businesses have to offer.

“We want everybody to come down, attend the festival,” Lavertu said. “Check out what the local business have and spend the day, and have a great time.”

The festival is from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday.
