Live at Lunch set for another week in Central Park

Jul 24, 2018 | 2:00 PM

If you’re looking for a spot for lunch tomorrow, Central Park is where you’re going to want to be.

Starting at noon, the Battlefords Housing Authority will be hosting a barbecue at the “Live at Lunch” event, which will run until 1 p.m. There will be live entertainment, which is free to attend, but the lunch will cost $5 for a burger, chips and a pop.

Misty Lavertu, executive director at the North Battleford Business Improvement District, said it’ll be a great community event.

“Bring a blanket, bring a friend, make sure not to pack a lunch and come join us in the park,” she said. “We have a great band playing, it’s Bandy McBandface. They’re a North Battleford band that changes their name each time they perform.”

The event has been rolling around every second week during the summer, with the community being asked to come out and support a good cause for the event. Lavertu said people have really enjoyed past events, and this one should be no different.

“People are loving it, in fact we have people of all ages coming, from teeny tiny babies in strollers to the elderly,” she said. “They’re up dancing, people absolutely love it. They have told us that they wish it was every single week. They’re enjoying the community feeling downtown, on a hot summer day.”

The funds raised during the event will be going to the Battlefords Interval House.
