N.B. planning community curbside giveaway weekend

May 15, 2018 | 10:00 AM

North Battleford residents will have a chance to get rid of unwanted or unneeded items from around the house and find something new during the city’s upcoming giveaway weekend.

The City of North Battleford announced plans for a free curbside giveaway weekend at council’s Monday meeting. Residents can leave items at their curbs to give away for free Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents must remove all items from the curbs by dusk Saturday and by 4 p.m. Sunday. People must clearly indicate that items left on the curb are free with signage, and each item must be labelled. The city’s community safety officers will ensure residents don’t leave anything out overnight.

Mattresses, soft furniture, refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners are not permitted during the giveaway, and residents were also advised not to put out strollers, baby walkers, or lawn darts.

The city asked residents to only put out items that are safe and in good condition. People must not discard items on private property, and giveaway items can’t block driveways or obstruct traffic.
