Outlaws snag 2-0 lead in SWHL final after Harrison’s OT winner

Mar 15, 2018 | 12:00 PM

Brett Harrison scored the game-winning goal in overtime Wednesday night as his Wilkie Outlaws edged the Kindersley Red Lions 3-2 in game two of the Sask West Hockey League finals.

It was Harrison’s league-leading 10th goal of the playoffs and his 20th point. More importantly, the goal left the Outlaws holding a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

The win also keeps the Outlaws perfect post-season alive, as they swept Luseland 2-0 in the best-of-three quarter-final and outscored Unity 18-8 in three straight wins in the semifinals. A win for the Outlaws in game three, which has yet to be scheduled, would close out the best-of-five finals and give them their fourth straight SWHL title.

Kindersley outshot Wilkie 39-36 in regulation, but the Outlaws outshot the Red Lions 5-0 in the 5:47 of overtime that was played.
