Travel tricky Monday morning

Mar 5, 2018 | 6:45 AM

Travel throughout the Battlefords area is best described as tricky this morning.

The provincial Highways Hotline is warning that because of the snowfall accumulation over the weekend and areas of blowing and drifting snow that travel is not recommended on highways outside the town and city.

Highways both south and east of Saskatoon are not recommended for travel as there are reported areas of blowing and drfiting snow with white-out conditions this morning.

Roads in Regina are described as treacherous this morning with many roads closed including Highway 1 between Balgonie and Wolseley and Highway 6 between Southey and Regina.

Snow and blowing snow are reported in Meadow Lake this morning with slippery areas on the highways.

There were several bus cancellations for the Living Sky School Division on Monday. All First Student rural buses, Southland and Maymont buses were not running. The Red Pheasant bus to North Battleford is not running this morning as well.

The snow is expected to taper off to a few flurries this afternoon and this evening with an additional two to four cm expected. Sunshine is expected to reach our area by Wednesday and stay in our region for most of the week.

CJNB/The Rock and Q98 will continue to update cancellations and highways throughout the day.
