Feb 16, 2018 | 10:34 AM

Battleford’s RCMP are investigating two serious crimes that happened on the same evening.

Around 5:48 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 15, police attended after a man was assaulted by two men in an alleyway. The investigation revealed a 56-year-old man was struck in the head and body with a baseball bat in an alley near 103 Street and Fifth Avenue.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The investigation remains ongoing, but police have identified one of the parties involved.

Later that evening, in a separate incident, police attended after receiving a complaint about gunshots to a residence. Police found bullet holes, consistent with a shotgun, in a garage attached to an unoccupied residence on the 1400 block of 107 Street in North Battleford.
