Cole Johnson has been on fire since joining the Battlefords North Stars at the trade deadline, and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has taken notice.

On Monday, Johnson was named the player of the week, following a hat-trick on Wednesday against Melfort and a four-goal performance on Saturday against La Ronge.

Over the course of the four games he played last week, he totalled eight goals and one assist. The 19-year-old now has 10 goals and four assists in eight games as a North Star.

North Stars rookie forward Matthias Urbanski was also named the rookie of the week on Monday.

The B.C. native had a goal and three assists in four games this week.

Urbanski is now fourth in rookie scoring in the SJHL with 33 points in 39 games. He is also second among rookies in goal scoring with 18.

The North Stars begin a stretch of seven straight home games on Tuesday night when they host the Kindersley Klippers. They are home to Estevan on Friday and Melville on Saturday.
