The Battlefords Hotels Association will be a platinum sponsor for the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games, following the announcement of their $25,000 committment on Thursday morning.

They will also be the event sponsor for female hockey, which will take place at Battleford Arena Feb. 21-24.

“Battlefords Hotels Association is proud to present a cheque to the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games,” BHA chairman Warren Berg said at the announcement. “All our hotels in the BHA participate in a destination marketing program. This program spearheads funding requests to support new tourism initiatives in the Battlefords for both cultural and sporting events.”

Winter games co-chair Rob Rongve said the association’s support not only helps the games, but will help grow tourism in the area.

“This financial support fulfills the intent of the room levy charged to hotel patrons on an ongoing basis to expand and support the tourism offerings in the Battlefords,” Rongve said. “We are thrilled to get another platinum sponsorship to ensure the success of the games. Every dollar we receive in sponsorships will ensure we deliver the best experience for all the young athletes coming to our great community.”

The Winter Games in the Battlefords begin on Feb. 18 and run until Feb. 24, 2018. It will feature roughly 1,800 athletes from across the province in 17 different sports.
