The Rock’s Ball Breaker aims to smash hunger, raises over $21k

Dec 24, 2017 | 7:31 AM

Local broadcaster 93.3 The Rock’s annual Ball Breaker raised over $21,000 for the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre.

The two-week event asked listeners to drop off donations of cash or soup to help the food bank and be entered into a draw for a Can-Am quad.

There was a repeat winner this year as Tara Sample took home the big prize. Her family donated nearly 200 cases of soup over the collection period. She also won a Ski-Doo last year when her family donated roughly 1,800 cans of soup.

All the goods collected will help stock the shelves of the food bank, as the holiday season is the busiest time of year for the food and resource centre.
