The student choir from Norman Carter Elementary School in Wilkie sang some holiday classics for a recording to be aired on CJNB/CJNS when they visited the local station in North Battleford, Wednesday.

Children in Grades 1 to 6 performed Peace on Earth and Jingle Bell Rock with support from teachers Reina Leith and Stacey Bottorff.

Leith said the school choir last sang at the Carol Festival in Wilkie on Dec. 10.

The students have been practising since around mid-November.

“I think they just like singing and having fun with each other,” Leith said. “They enjoy getting together and singing for the community.”

Principal Brian Hargreaves said the school’s kindergarten students are also in the choir, but they didn’t make the trip to North Battleford for the visit.

Plans are for the choir members to take part in the school’s drama production coming up in May.

“A lot of those kids will be involved in that so this is a nice introductory step into drama and performing on stage,” Hargreaves said.

“Based on how many kids we can get involved, we can see how big a cast [there will be], and determine what we want to do from there.”

The chilren’s performances will air on CJNB/CJNS on Friday morning.
