BUH Foundation Lottery picks big winners

Nov 10, 2017 | 4:00 PM

Friday was a lucky day for the individuals selected in this year’s Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) lottery.

The BUH Foundation picked the winner for both the $100,000 grand prize draw, as well as the $52,000 50-50 Enhancement raffle draw in its 2017 Cash Lottery.

Diana Griffiths of Battleford won the $100,000, while Allan Craig of St. Walburg’s ticket was the 50-50 winner. There were also multiple draws for $1,000 and $2,000, as well as one for $10,000.

BUH Foundation executive director Claudette McGuire said the 23rd annual lottery was a huge success and made good as the foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year.

“We sold more than last year,” she said. “When we get up into that area that makes me very, very happy.”

The foundation sold almost 95 per cent of the 12,500 lottery tickets available to people across the entire province.

The fundraiser this year will help purchase the Centurion Vision System for the cataract program at the BUH.

“To the people in this community and the surrounding communities, I’m very grateful to all of them for all of their philanthropy,” McGuire said.
