Mayor Ryan Bater addressed some questions tonight after a regular council meeting in regards to Saturday night`s fatal RCMP shooting this evening.

On Oct. 21 an Onion Lake man died after being shot at in an incident with Battlefords RCMP in North Battleford.

At a press conference Sunday, police said members of the Battlefords RCMP responded to a call of a man who reported being chased by a vehicle and shot at by the occupants. Police said they located the vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued. It ended after the suspect vehicle rammed a police vehicle and became immobilized near the intersection of 15th Ave. and 105th Street. In a statement, police said “in response to the driver’s actions following the pursuit,” a member discharged their firearm injuring an occupant of the vehicle. Police and then EMS provided life-saving measures, however the individual, 22-year-old Brydon Bryce Whitstone, died enroute to hospital.
