North Stars ranked fifth nationally in latest CJHL top-20

Oct 10, 2017 | 12:00 PM

The Battlefords North Stars’ hot start to the 2017-18 season led to recognition in the latest edition of the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top-20 weekly rankings.

Last week, the team was ranked eighth in the country and were the second-highest Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team.

This week, they moved up three spots to fifth, and are now three spots ahead of the lone other SJHL representative, the Melfort Mustangs, who fell from second to eighth.

The North Stars have still not lost a game in regulation this year, although their light schedule means they’ve played less games than many of the other CJHL teams. Battlefords is 5-0-1, while Melfort is 8-1-1, after losing twice this past weekend, once to Estevan and once to Weyburn.
