Heritage award among some of Chamber’s other notable honours

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce recognized businesses for their longevity as part of Tuesday’s awards gala.

The Heritage Award went to Sallows and Mcdonald – Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home this year. 

Funeral director T’Neale Laycock said: “We’re so excited. I think this award means a lot to the funeral home and the community as well.” 

The long-serving firm has been in business for 109 years.  

Other BBEX recipients, included the award for Community Contribution which went to Scott Campbell Dodge Ltd. 

“I’ve very proud. Obviously, we have a great leader in Scott Campbell,” said general manager Trent Gatzke. “He has always been active in the community since they moved here.”

The award for best Customer Service went to Caleb Village, which has been operating for four years in the community. 

“Our customers are there 24-seven; that’s why my staff work there. They are there for our residents,” said general manager Shannon Langley.

She said she is proud of both the staff and all the residents at Caleb Village.

The Battlefords Best Employer award went to Innovation Credit Union. 

Jay Crockett, people division specialist with the company, said: “We are tremendously honoured to even be nominated for this award, let alone win it.”  

“We work for a tremendous company that invests heavily in its people,” he added.

For the Chamber’s Stan Wychopen Memorial BBEX Scholarship award, Kristian St. Amant, from North Battleford, is the distinguished recipient this year. St. Amant, from North Battleford, attends North West College.
