Local students help upgrade outdoor rink

The town of Battleford is getting ready for another season of outdoor skating with help from local high school students.

There are plans to upgrade and increase the size of the existing rink, located at ACT Park, commonly known as 35th Street Park.

“I’m excited; I grew up not far from 35th Street Park and I still live close to it,” Mayor Ames Leslie said. “I grew up skating on that rink.”

Leslie said Coun. Judy Pruden proposed putting up new boards and making the rink bigger this year by turning the rink at a 180 degree angle, to provide more space for increase.
