Downtown construction completion delayed

Sep 28, 2017 | 10:00 AM

Residents and businesses looking forward to an end to downtown construction will need to wait a little longer.

The City of North Battleford announced Thursday that due to some complications, work on 101 St. from 11 Ave. 12 Ave., and on 12 Ave. from 100 St. to 102 St. will be completed one week later than planned.

The city now expects the project to be complete for Oct.16.

Crews will finish concrete curb work and street light installation this week. They will continue work on stone paving in the weeks ahead on 12 Ave.

They will be tackling work paving, installing signs and fixtures, constructing crosswalks, planting trees, and painting lines next week also.

The city has opened sections of sidewalk to pedestrians on 101 St., but the road is closed to vehicle traffic until the rest of the work is completed

The city said 12 Ave between 100 St and 102 St will stay closed both to vehicles and pedestrians while crews work on the sidewalk and roadway construction.

The city said this work will make it difficult for people to access businesses in the area; however businesses will stay open and continue operating. Residents can contact the business in advance to find another way to access the establishment.
