Unity afterhours parcel boxes closed after multiple break-ins

Sep 15, 2017 | 12:00 PM

The people of Unity will no longer be able to access their afterhours parcel boxes at Canada Post after multiple break-ins over the past month.

According to an RCMP report, the local Canada Post Office has decided to lock up the overnight boxes after they were pried open sometime between Sept. 10 and 11. Police said various items were torn open and it isn’t known if other items were taken.

RCMP said the same thing happened on Aug. 17, where the afterhours boxes were pried open and several parcels were taken.

Canada Post has decided to lock the doors to the public after business hours to prevent further thefts.

RCMP urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers. Police added there are currently no suspects.
