Six-year-old boy dies in dog attack in Riceton

A six-year-old boy is dead after a dog attack outside a home in Riceton.

Just after 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Milestone RCMP and EMS responded to the home in the community, located 49 kilometres south of Regina, for a complaint of a dog attack.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two large dogs, reported by police to be Alaskan Malamutes, were seized and are being held by Animal Protection Services. The dogs were known to the boy.

Police are investigating the attack, including what prompted it. Police are unsure whether one or both dogs were involved.

The name of the boy is not being released.
