Co-op Carnival a hit with the kids

Sep 11, 2017 | 12:00 PM

Battlefords area kids hopped, slid, and splashed their way through this past weekend as part of the 17th annual Discovery Co-op’s annual Kids’ Club Carnival.

The member-owned Co-op offers the free carnival as a way to give back to the community.

Leanne Ducommun, Discovery Co-op’s marketing and communications manager, said the Co-op carnival and other Kids’ Club activities “hopefully makes the community a better place.”

The carnival was put on as part of the Kids’ Club activities, a free club for children 12 and under.

Kids and their families enjoyed a barbecue lunch, and a host of activities – including a petting zoo, a bubble art show, mini golf and various other games and activities.

The Battlefords RCMP, the local fire department and the ambulance services were also on hand to meet families, as well as local non-profit organizations with information booths at the event.

Ducomun said this year was the highest attendence on record.

“We had over 1,500 people attend this year. It was a huge success,” she said.
