Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for area

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Battlefords, Unity, Maidstone and St. Walburg areas.

Meteorologists say conditions are favourable for the development of a thunderstorm that could produce damaging winds, hail and heavy rain.

Environment Canada says a cold front could trigger thunderstorms as it tracks through an unstable airmass over the province this afternoon.
