United way golf tournament celebrates 20 years

May 10, 2017 | 10:35 AM

The Battlefords United Way are now accepting registrations for their 20th annual Golf Tournament happening at the Jackfish Lodge Golf & Conference Centre on Monday July 10.

The event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the United Way and promises to be a great time for all to participate according to committee chair Brendon Boothman.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out and enjoy a round of golf and help support the United Way as well,” Boothman said. “Jackfish Lake Golf Course is a great place for a fun event like this and with this year being our 20th year it makes it more special.”

The Battlefords United Way supports five member agencies in the community including the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club, Battlefords & Area Sexual Assault Centre, Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre, Battlefords Trade and Education Centre and the Battlefords Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Earlier this month, the United Way allocated $50,000 between the five agencies.

“Each one of these organizations provides a vital service to our community,” added Duane Lafreniere 2017 United Way Campaign Chair. “The money raised from our golf tournament allows us to continue to support the great work they do.”

Registration is just $125 per person and includes a delicious steak dinner following the round of golf.  You can get complete details by contacting the Battlefords United Way office or visit the BUW Facebook Page.
