Community groups receive boost from United Way

May 5, 2017 | 12:00 PM

Five local organizations benefitted from a successful 2016-2017 campaign by the Battlefords United Way.

The United Way recently allocated $50,000 to the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club, Battlefords & Area Sexual Assault Centre, Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre, Battlefords Trade and Education Centre and the Battlefords branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The United Way was able to provide these funds thanks to two very successful fundraisers over the past year such as the 2016 Golf Event and the all new Shamrockin’ Comedy Night held in March.

“We are very pleased to be able to support these local groups,” Rose Silzer-Quinn, executive director of the United Way, said. “Our goal is to build stronger communities for everyone and by supporting these organizations the United Way is able to do that.”
