Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation man charged with first degree murder

RCMP have arrested a Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation man and charged him with first degree murder.

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, Pierceland RCMP found the body of 28-year-old Jordan Sandfly on the Big Island Lake Cree Nation. Today, Dec. 22, police announced 32-year-old Anthony Mitsuing was arrested for Sandfly’s death.

Mitsuing is set to appear in Loon Lake Provincial Court today, Dec. 22.

In a news release an RCMP spokesperson said the two men were known to each other and there are no other suspects.

An autopsy is scheduled for Dec. 22 in Regina.

Pierceland is located near the Saskatchewan-Alberta border, roughly 100 kilometres northwest of Meadow Lake.
