N.B. man faces assault, weapons charges

Battlefords RCMP have arrested and charged a man after an assault Thursday that included weapons offenses.

According to a news release, RCMP responded to an assault at roughly 5 p.m. on Dec. 8 at a residence on 99th St.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police said nobody was hurt in the incident and the matter is still under investigation.

Also Thursday, RCMP responded to a report of shoplifting from a business on Carlton Tr. at 3:40 p.m. The suspects fled prior to police arriving, but staff were able to recover the stolen property.

Two suspects have been identified as persons of interest.

RCMP also made an arrest for impaired driving overnight. A 20-year-old woman was arrested after a two-vehicle collision on 100th St. just after midnight Friday.

She was charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08. There were no injuries reported from the collision.
