BUH Foundation hopes community will help replace donations from stolen well

The stolen wishing well at the Battlefords Union Hospital is being replaced, but it will require the community’s help to ensure it doesn’t stay empty.

On Nov. 18 the wishing well at the Battleford Union Hospital (BUH) was reported stolen. After RCMP couldn’t locate it over the following weekend, Scott Campbell Dodge decided to replace the wishing well.

Claudette McGuire is the executive director of the BUH Foundation and hopes local residents will help replace the money during the Give and Take Coffee Break event next Wednesday.

“We are so honoured by the community’s support,” McGuire said. “We hope everyone comes out. What is going to happen is we will come in with a little wishing well and people can make donations … and we get to thank the community for their support.”

McGuire said there will be free coffee and other refreshments. She added anyone who donates $10 or more will receive a tax receipt.

According to McGuire the stolen well has not been located and she doesn’t believe there was much hope of it returning. McGuire added the new well should arrive in mid-December.

The Give and Take Coffee Break starts at 11 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. at Scott Campbell Dodge.
