We all have one. The dreaded ugly sweater. Whether it’s a Christmas gift from grandma you have to wear when she visits every holiday, or a purchase that seemed like a good idea at the time, there is an ugly sweater in everyone’s closet.

This Christmas, the Battleford’s United Way (BUW) wants you to show off your dreaded garment by taking part in the annual Ugly Sweater Day on Monday, Dec. 5.

Events/Campaign co-ordinator Rose Silzer-Quinn told BattlefordsNow that individuals and businesses are asked to send the BUW their pictures depicting you wearing your ugly sweater. All pictures received will be posted on the United Way Facebook page and website.

“December can be a stressful time of year for various reasons and the cold dark morning make it a little less cheery. We hoped that by sponsoring this fund-raising effort we might help everyone get into the Christmas spirit while increasing donations for BUW, and the Empty Stocking Fund” said Silzer-Quinn.

The registration deadline for individuals or businesses to submit your photos is Friday at 2 p.m. To enter in the fun, all you need is $5 and a non-perishable food item. All proceeds go to the BUW and to the local food bank.
