Three charged in relation to recovered vehicles

An adult and two youth males were arrested following the recovery of stolen vehicles and other property.

On Sept. 20, members of the Battlefords Detachment General Investigative Section (GIS) located a vehicle which was recently stolen from the Maidstone Detachment area. With assistance from general duty members and the provincial GIS unit, the three males were arrested in relation to the stolen vehicle.

An additional stolen vehicle, bear spray and ammunition were also recovered during the arrest.

Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at a dwelling and police seized a firearm and other evidence to support further ongoing investigations involving vehicle thefts and break-ins. In a release, RCMP say additional charges are anticipated.

Nicolas Petalas, 21, of North Battleford was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited.

The two youth were charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with various court orders.

All three were remanded into custody with their first court appearances at Battleford Provincial Court on Friday, Sept. 23.
