Successful festival heralds fall season

The 4th annual Fall Festival and Car Show brought the crowds to downtown North Battleford.

On Saturday Sept. 17, 101st St. was the scene of a market, all-ages activities and a car show with a wide variety of makes, models and years lining the street.

Executive director of Downtown North Battleford Lisa Kissick said over 2,000 people took in the fall festivities this year.

“By a longshot the greatest attendance we’ve ever had,” Kissick said. “We had more than double the amount of vendors that we had from last year so I know that plays a big role. I know I spent a lot of money, so a really great turnout.”

According to Kissick, the event was to give people the chance to see what the downtown core has to offer.

“We’re just highlight downtown as a place to be, as a place to come do your shopping, come hang out. We have a lot of great things in our downtown, a lot of great stores. I know even the stores have been super busy so that’s a good thing,” she said.

Already looking forward to next year’s festival, Kissick said she wants to see the growth continue and have more people out in the street.

“We hope to expand next year, I’d like to see tonnes more cars down here. Every year it’s grown a little and a little more so we just look forward to that for next year,” she said.
