A&W trying to beat MS with burger sales

Aug 25, 2016 | 5:00 PM

The local A&W is helping out Canadians with multiple sclerosis by donating some proceeds from burger sales to the MS Society.

The eighth annual Burgers to Beat MS day had A&W restaurants across Canada donating $1 from every Teen Burger sold on Aug. 25 to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Customers also had other ways to donate, including rounding up their bills.

The North Battleford A&W was busy Thursday with employees selling lots of burgers and root beer. Larry “The Balloon Man” Goodall was also on hand, twisting up flowers, butterflies and other figures for kids and adults alike.

According to the MS Society, Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world, with one in 340 Canadians living with the disease. MS is most commonly diagnosed in young adults and attacks the central nervous system, affecting vision, hearing, memory, balance and mobility.
