Northwest Territorial Days takes over Battlefords this week

Aug 15, 2016 | 12:18 PM

It’s going to be a busy time at the Battlefords Exhibition Grounds with the 129th Annual Northwest Territorial Days running from Tuesday, Aug. 16 to Friday, Aug. 19.

General Manager of the Battlefords Ag Society, Jocelyn Ritchie, said Territorial Days is a yearly event many people look forward to, in the Battlefords and beyond.

“The week of the exhibition we have 20,000 people, so that’s more than the population of the Battlefords itself. We take pride in that and we try to provide great entertainment,” she said.

Ritchie said the week will be full of fun with two big spectator draws happening on the final day of the exhibition.

“What is always a great attraction is our demolition derby which is on Friday, which is the last day of the fair, as well as the fireworks which are on Friday as well,” Ritchie said.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday but the midway won’t be open until Wednesday at 1 p.m. and will be open from 1 p.m. to midnight on Thursday and Friday as well.

Ritchie said West Coast Amusements will be back to run the midway.
