DQ Miracle Treat Day coming to the Battlefords

Aug 8, 2016 | 5:00 PM

This week offers the best excuse to buy a blizzard from Dairy Queen.

Thursday, Aug. 11 is Miracle Treat Day in Dairy Queens all across Canada and in the Battlefords where all the proceeds from any size blizzard purchased during the day go to the Children’s Miracle Network.

All the money donated from Miracle Treat Day in the province will being going to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

North Battleford Dairy Queen owner/operator Terry Burnett said it’s a great feeling to be able to help out in the province.

“To be working on a facility like the Children’s Hospital so close to us in Saskatoon and know our proceeds from all the DQ’s in Saskatchewan is going locally and staying locally, it’s just such a good feeling to know that we can help out in any little way,” he said.

Last year the North Battleford Dairy Queen raised roughly $11,000 during Miracle Treat Day.

Burnett said the location received tremendous support in years prior and it’s a tough, yet rewarding day.

“It’s a little bit of a hectic day here for everybody but we all have a little bit of fun doing it. At the end of the day everybody knows that it’s such a great cause. We battle through the day and have a lot of fun doing it,” Burnett said. “You know that when you walk out with your blizzard, you just helped a miracle happen.”

The Children’s Miracle Network is an organization which raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, 14 of which are in Canada.
