SaskParty Deputy Premier Don McMorris has resigned from cabinet and the government caucus after being charged with impaired driving.

In a written statement McMorris said he had no words to describe how sorry he is.

“But saying sorry is not enough,” he wrote. “I have spoken with Premier Wall and tendered my resignation from cabinet, which he has accepted. I will also be leaving the government caucus while I deal with the legal aspects of this matter and seek counseling.”

McMorris was the minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority and for Saskatchewan Government Insurance.
