Charges laid in ‘suspicious’ Big Island death

A woman is in custody on manslaughter charges for the death of a Big Island Lake woman.

Pierceland RCMP said Brandy Arnelle Benson, 21, was arrested Wednesday, July 20 without incident. Benson is accused of killing 17-year-old Cynder Robinson of Big Island Lake Cree Territory.

An investigation revealed Robinson was at a party in Big Island where a fight broke out. Robinson was found dead inside the residence.

RCMP said Robinson and Benson knew each other. It’s unknown at this time if the fight was between the two of them.

Benson will make her first appearance at Meadow Lake Provincial Court on July 22, 2016.
