Police confirmed a 62-year-old man from Saskatoon drowned after falling out of his canoe in an Alberta lake Monday.

Lake Louise RCMP said crews responded around 4 p.m. to Moraine Lake in Banff National Park.

Emergency crews performed CPR on the unresponsive man, who was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the man was not wearing a life vest when he was found in the water, but one of the devices was seen floating nearby.
