Maidstone experiencing crime spree

The Maidstone RCMP have had their hands full this week.

Fifty-nine incidents of crime were reported this past week, starting July 4, including theft and erratic driving.

A camper was broken into at Halfway Park with several items taken, including the occupant’s personal credit cards and a portable radio.

The radio was a piece of equipment belonging to emergency services and is a vital transmission piece for emergency service delivery. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Maidstone RCMP.

Another crime reported on July 7, saw a grey 2015 Can Am Maverick stolen from a rural resident near Green St. The vehicle is described as having a white and grey body with green roll bars and an identification number ending in JOO189.

On July 8, the Enhanced Policing Unit intercepted a white truck westbound on Highway 16 near Waseca that was travelling over 160 km/hr. The driver was a 24-year-old from Saskatoon was charged with one count of exceeded lawful posted speed limit by more than 50 km/hr. The individual was fined $436.00. The driver was also fined with one count of driving a vehicle without due care and attention and was fined an additional sum of $280.00.
