SGI preparing for possible postal strike

Jun 23, 2016 | 4:06 PM

A possible postal strike is looming for Canada Post as early as July 2.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is currently in 21-day “cooling off” period after seven months of negotiations failed to reach a new collective agreement on June, 10.  The union is still in the midst of negotiations but will have the right to strike after midnight on July 2 if no deal is reached at that point.

While mail volumes are not what they used to be, and you might even think you won’t miss mail delivery, there are other areas of concern such as your SGI license or registration renewal.

The Crown is reminding customers to check expiry dates on licences, vehicle registrations and other insurance policies because reminders will not be sent out in the event of a postal strike.
