Accused La Loche shooter has court case adjourned

The accused in the Jan. 22 La Loche shootings appeared in provincial court today, June 6.

The suspect, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act appeared via video in the La Loche courtroom with his matters being adjourned till June 30.

The youth, who was 17 at the time of the incident, is facing four counts of first-degree murder after allegedly shooting Dayne and Drayden Fontaine in a private residence before two teachers, Adam Wood and Marie Janvier were killed in the La Loche Community School. The accused is also facing seven counts of attempted murder.

So far the Crown has served notice to the defence that if convicted, they would like to sentence him as an adult.
