Fort Mac Monday a huge success

May 9, 2016 | 1:56 PM

The people of the Battlefords have truly shown how much they care about the people affected by the wildfire in Fort McMurray by raising roughly $34,000 in a four-hour period.

Droves of people showed up at CJNB in North Battleford Monday, May 9 to donate cash for Fort Mac Monday. All donations collected are going directly to the Red Cross to help the residents of the city recover.

Roughly $34,000 was raised by the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. The stations are still collecting money throughout the day.

There have been 80,000 people evacuated from their homes because of the fire. The fire is currently at 161,000 hectares which is roughly three times the size of Edmonton.
