Battlefords groups win big at Sask. Tourism awards gala

One North Battleford business and first-of-its-kind event took home honours at the Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala on April 14 in Regina.

The Gold Eagle Lodge, nominated in three categories, won Business of the Year for a company with over 20 full-time employees and the Service Excellence Award.

The lodge has been named the Employer of Choice for six consecutive years and earned the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for five. Gold Eagle was also nominated in the Tourism Employer of the Year category.

Also, the North Battleford International Street Performer Festival won the Community Event of the Year Award.

The three day, volunteer-driven outdoor event is Saskatchewan’s first and only festival showcasing international street performers. Started in 2014, the festival saw significant attendance and sponsorship growth in its second year, with total sponsorship exceeding $76,000.
