The games are coming to North Battleford.

The city has won its bid to host the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games. The Saskatchewan Games Council says it will result in an economic benefit and contribute to tourism, along with a legacy of improved facilities and a core of volunteers and officials.

“With the enthusiasm and passion shown by the community along with the excellent venues, we are confident North Battleford will create a memorable multi-sport games experience for all involved,” said games council chair Julie Brandt.

The games will include 17 sports with more than 2,000 athletes taking part. Lloydminster was the other city bidding to host the games.
