Oct 23, 2026 | 12:46 PM

The Battlefords North Stars look to avoid their seventh straight loss tonight when they head to Melville to take on the Millionaires.

The North Stars (2-7-1-0, fourth in the Nutrien Division) are coming off a 6-2 road loss to the Warman Wolverines.

Meanwhile, the Millionaires (7-4-0-1, second in the Bunge Division) have won their last two games, both against the Kindersley Klippers.

Their most recent victory was a 4-3 win Sunday in Kindersley.

The North Stars’ biggest struggle lately has been in the second period.

They have allowed 20 second-period goals during their six-game losing streak, including 15 in their last three games.

The North Stars have also struggled on the power play, converting a league-worst 7.3 per cent of their opportunities this season. They have scored three power-play goals in 41 opportunities.

However, they could get opportunities against a Millionaires team that has allowed 56 power plays, the fourth-most in the league.

Finlay Klippenstein (four goals, four assists), Michiel Leenders (three goals, five assists) and Will Kirwan (eight assists) share the North Stars’ scoring lead with eight points each in 10 games.

Melville has a four-way tie for its scoring lead, also at eight points.

Grady Carmichael (four goals, four assists in 12 games), Wesley Olson (two goals, six assists in 10 games), Kale Margolis (two goals, six assists in 12 games) and Rylan Oatman (one goal, seven assists in 11 games) share the Millionaires’ scoring lead.

After facing Melville, the North Stars visit the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday for the first time since Yorkton eliminated them in Game 7 of last season’s playoffs.

Ty Medernach leads Yorkton with 13 points, four goals and nine assists in 11 games.

The Ultra Print pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by NAPA Auto Parts North Stars hockey at 7 p.m. on CJNB/CJNS as the North Stars try to snap their six-game skid.
