Demers Boxing showcases local talent at second Meadow Lake card

Oct 21, 2026 | 3:29 PM

Demers Boxing hosted its second card at the Meadow Lake Civic Centre on Saturday in front of nearly 300 people.

The event featured boxers and clubs from across Saskatchewan and Alberta, along with a main-event fighter from Colorado.

“We had a number of local boxers on the card. They all performed really well,” said Quenten Demers, owner of Demers Boxing.

“We had some good matches that evening. I’m really proud of the performances that were put in by our local boxers. It’s nice to see them improving and advancing in the sport.”

Teammates Avery Neal and Aidie Friesen kicked off the event with a showcase match.

“Both these two really gave it their all. They both boxed well and got an opportunity to showcase their improvements over the last 10 months,” Demers said in a written statement.

After that, Demers Boxing’s Caden Friesen faced training partner Will Lenko.

“Both these boys boxed really well,” Demers said. “They each had their moment in this fun bout — Lenko with his speed and flurries, and Caden with his big power shots.”

The third fight of the evening was a rematch between Luke Lenko and Zeke Keeler. Keeler defeated Lenko in their first matchup, but Lenko got his revenge, putting on a “heck of a show,” according to Demers.

“He followed directions, made a few improvements and dominated Keeler. People have been coming up to me all week mentioning that fight in particular. He did so amazing.”

Lenko was also named the best junior boxer at the event.

Next was a bout between Tommy Dvorchuck and Everett Fehr of Titans Boxing in Cold Lake, Alta.

“Tommy was able to keep his opponent’s back to the ropes and really get to work. Everett was no slouch. He was able to get some good work in as well. Both these boys put on an interesting exhibition bout.”

Entering the home stretch of the card, Kody Coullioneur took on Ethan Frostad. Frostad, from Kopas Boxing in Saskatoon, entered the fight undefeated.

Coullioneur handed Frostad his first loss with a second-round stoppage.

“I’m really proud of Kody. He’s a great athlete who’s really coachable. This young man has potential,” Demers said.

It was Coullioneur’s second stoppage victory in his last three fights.

In the co-main event, Kopas Boxing’s Jacey Kasakan faced 2026 Canadian national champion Jayden St. Croix and outduelled the champion for the win.

“I’m not sure how Jacey wasn’t picked for the best boxer of the evening after beating the champ,” said Demers.

The main event featured Brylyn Ramirez of Axteca Boxing in Colorado against hometown boxer Havanna Demers.

Quenten Demers said Ramirez had an aggressive style and was always moving forward. Havanna Demers struggled with her conditioning and could not keep pace.

“I’m wondering if she’s able to do that because of training at elevation. She just had a gas tank in that third round. Havanna couldn’t keep up with it. She had to stand her ground and trade with the girl.”

Eventually, Ramirez took the victory.

Demers said Havanna will take a break, but the team is preparing for a rematch in Colorado in August 2027.

“There’s supposed to be 10,000 people in attendance, big lowrider car shows and everything. Quite exciting to see that.”

As he looks back on another successful event for his club, Demers is thankful for everybody that made it happen.

“I’d just like to thank everybody who was in attendance and all the support the community’s been giving us. It’s been great. We’ve had a couple people reach out wanting to donate, so we’re looking at potentially buying a ring,” he said.

“It’s awesome, the support that everyone’s had. We’ve got some new members showing up after the show. The club’s looking good, and it wouldn’t be that way without all the support from the community.”
